SR-39 Roundabout

Project Overview
PROJECT UPDATE
Construction has wrapped up for the winter season. Crews will return in spring 2026 to complete a chip seal on the new asphalt surface, final roadway striping, and right-of-way fencing.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The new roundabout has opened to all-way traffic. The speed limit approaching the intersection has been reduced to 20 mph. Please reduce speeds and use caution while navigating the roundabout.
The roundabout features a free right-turn (no stop required) for northbound SR-39 traffic to eastbound SR-39 towards Monte Cristo. The roundabout is designed to be somewhat larger than standard. This larger size is necessary to accommodate the frequent passage of oversized recreational vehicles and trailers in the area.
The project makes history as the first roundabout constructed on a state road by UDOT’s Region One, which includes the six counties north of Salt Lake City.

WEBER CANYON BRIDGE WORK

Project Overview
PROJECT UPDATE
Eastbound (EB) shoulder and outside lane closures have occurred and will continue as weather permits. Drivers should expect barrels on the roadway to guide them through the construction zone. Closure schedule updates will be posted on the UDOT Traffic app, the project website, and social media.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
UDOT is reconstructing the eastbound and westbound I-84 Weber River/Union Pacific Railroad bridges two miles east from the mouth of Weber Canyon in Weber County.
This project will install two new bridges with an anticipated 75-year service life. The bridges feature updated typical sections, improved detailing, and geometry for a safer, more efficient facility.
Stay tuned for additional information as it becomes available.
walking path closed
The walking/bike trail beneath I-84 along the river is currently closed for your safety while construction is ongoing. Please stay tuned for updates on when the trail will reopen.

Project Overview
SR-167 TRAPPERS LOOP FIBER

Project Overview
PROJECT UPDATE
Pipeline material is being delivered and transported across the river (east of the West Hermitage bridge). Deliveries require temporary road closures for a crane used to lift pipe sections across the river onto a truck for transport to the work sites. Delivery frequency has dropped significantly since January 5th.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The escape ramp uses a concrete chute to guide runaway tricks into the correct position, were cable restraints are then used to stop the trucks. When a truck hits the cables, they are designed to wrap around the truck, causing it to lose speed and eventually stop.

PROJECT UPDATE
Crews have paused construction work for the winter. Work will resume in the summer, when temperatures are warmer for concrete work and other weather-sensitive activities.
PROJECt description
A 12-mile fiber optic line is being installed in Weber and Morgan Counties along SR-167 (Trappers Loop) from Mountain Green to Pineview. This project involves installing fiber and utilities, milling and paving the roadway, and working on the shoulder. It supports UDOT's goal to build fiber infrastructure for broadband access in rural areas, enabling telemedicine, distance learning, and telecommuting.
