SR-39 Roundabout

SR-39 Roundabout, 100 S. 7800 E., Huntsville construction notice
PrOJECT UPDATE

Construction has wrapped up for the winter season. Crews will return in spring 2026 to complete a chip seal on the new asphalt surface, final roadway striping, and right-of-way fencing.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The new roundabout has opened to all-way traffic. The speed limit approaching the intersection has been reduced to 20 mph. Please reduce speeds and use caution while navigating the roundabout.

The roundabout features a free right-turn (no stop required) for northbound SR-39 traffic to eastbound SR-39 towards Monte Cristo. The roundabout is designed to be somewhat larger than standard. This larger size is necessary to accommodate the frequent passage of oversized recreational vehicles and trailers in the area.

The project makes history as the first roundabout constructed on a state road by UDOT’s Region One, which includes the six counties north of Salt Lake City.

This project will install two new bridges with an anticipated 75-year service life. The bridges feature updated typical sections, improved detailing, and geometry for a safer, more efficient facility.

Stay tuned for additional information as it becomes available.

PROJECT UPDATE

Pipeline material is being delivered and transported across the river (east of the West Hermitage bridge). Deliveries require temporary road closures for a crane used to lift pipe sections across the river onto a truck for transport to the work sites. Delivery frequency has dropped significantly since January 5th.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The escape ramp uses a concrete chute to guide runaway tricks into the correct position, were cable restraints are then used to stop the trucks. When a truck hits the cables, they are designed to wrap around the truck, causing it to lose speed and eventually stop.

PROJECT UPDATE

The Port Ramp and Pineview Trail (Windsurfer Beach) are Closed. Construction has begun and will continue through 2026. No public access will be allowed at any time during construction.

  • Portions of the Pineview west trail are also closed.
  • Anderson Cove boat ramp is open with limited parking.
